Flutters and Jealousy and Toilet Locks, Oh My!

Recently I found myself sweating bullets in a friend's bathroom while battling a toilet lock with a 5 year old who REALLY had to go and experienced my first pang of second baby parental anxiety.  First of all, I play with baby gear and kids stuff for a living.  I should KNOW how to Houdini this thing.  Second, wait - I don't know how to use it because despite the incredible sense of paranoia that only a person who knows my father could truly understand, we never had toilet locks with Kayla.

The LEGO Movie Experience - Behind the Scenes at Legoland California

It's no secret that we've got some LEGO lovers in this house.  I've made a few neat DIY LEGO projects in the past year including the very Pinterest famous DIY LEGO Travel Case and my personal fave, the DIY LEGO wreath.  So when one of my bloggy buddies, Angela of Nine More Months asked if I wanted to come with her to check out some behind the scenes action for the LEGO Movie at Legoland it was kind of a no-brainer.

The Best Time Teaching Toy for Kids - Telly the Time Teaching Clock

It's sort of odd, but I can still remember learning to tell time.  I believe I was a solid 6 years old and there was a bribe involved.  It went something like, if you learn to tell time by the end of the month, then I'll take you to a Rangers (hockey) game. Have I mentioned that I was a total tomboy as a kid?  One who was very fixated on hockey at the time?  And apparently bribery was way more socially acceptable (and effective) form of parenting in the 80's.

Big Love with Belle & Beanzer

So it's Valentines Day and quite frankly, my husband could not be more off the hook if he tried.  First, I'm supposed to be at 30,000 feet right now and halfway to New York.  Thanks snowmageddon.  Second, I already have everything I could possibly want this Valentine's Day.  A crazy little preschooler that makes me laugh more than she makes me nutty and that baby that's been on my mind for the last couple of years already well on his way to join our silly family.

Nursery Inspiration - Aden + Anais Up Up & Away and DIY Target Hack Chevron Metal Wall Art

Okay, so here's the part where I admit that I did a few totally irrational odd things during that first trimester.  One, I stopped eating chicken.  Random.  For whatever reason I could not bring myself to ingest the stuff. Two, I may have made some design decisions based around the fact that I was having a boy.  Not that I had any scientific proof or anything even remotely tangible to lead me in that direction beyond a gut instinct.  Three, I fell hopelessly in love with the Up, Up & Away print from Aden + Anais.

Starting Over - We're Having a BOY!

It's incredibly hard to keep a secret when a large part of your job is to be candid about what's going on in your life.  You feel torn, you feel like a bit of a liar and of course you feel like you just want to say it!  In the last couple of months I've found myself in this predicament for the first time and it's all but driven me crazy.  Now, finally I get to share the news that's been bottled up inside for 7 weeks and 4 days.  But who's counting?
