Stressed Skin - How to Find a Holiday Win with Dermalogica

Holiday stress is killing my skin so I checked out some solutions and created some DIY beauty product ornaments as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias and their client.

The holidays are on their way!  If you're in my line of work then they've actually been here for quite some time.  In the blogger world I think it's safe to say that the holidays start in July or August when you work on Halloween and don't stop till you hit the end of December.   When you're inevitably last minute Christmas-ing, traveling and entertaining relatives.  Which is stressful.  So in true blogger fashion I am giving you the advance preview of what stressed, broken out holiday Jillian looks like.  With makeup.

Starting a TerraCycle Brigade - Yes, You CAN Recycle that!

This week I started a TerraCycle Brigade and made fun DIY monster recycling bins to get kids excited about our project as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias and their client.

Recently Craig and I embarked on the fabulous journey that is determining where you want your child to go to kindergarten.  Seriously, who knew that this decision was actually more of a commitment than college?  Why?  Because it sets the track of schools they'll attend for the next 13 years.  BOOM.  That's the sound of my head exploding.  What could this possibly have to do with recycling?  I will tell you, give me a second!

DIY Monster Recycling Containers - Fun Recycling Bins for Kids

Did you hear?  I'm starting a TerraCycle Brigade to get local children to recycle things that might otherwise not be recyclable.  To make things extra fun for them I created these DIY monster recycling bins and I'll show you how to make them...they're easy, I promise!

Easy DIY Cupcake Costume - Last Minute Halloween Costume

This week I created an easy DIY Cupcake Halloween Costume. This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Cottonelle, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #CottonelleTarget  http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.

If you're like me, then it's entirely possible that you've been so caught up in other stuff that you realized you are short a Halloween costume.  And if you're an adult (and you probably are if you're reading this) that means you will be left with VERY limited options.  Read: good luck finding a costume that doesn't make you look like some sort of promiscuous sorority girl or has more to it than just a pair of ears.

Tired New Parent Gift Basket with Pampers

This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Pampers. #DivasSleep #DDDivas I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine

It was 2009 and I was a walking zombie.  Not the people eating, grey faced, undead kind.  The spitup covered, hair a mess, living on 90 minutes of sleep a night kind of zombie.  You know, the parent of a colic/reflux baby.  The term bundle of joy simply did not apply.  This was the year that I learned the value of sleep.  Ask my husband.

DIY Diaper Sheep - Baby Shower Decor

Diaper cake.  Yawn.  I don't mean to sound rude, but really?  It blows my mind a bit that there are so few real departures from the diaper cake in the world of diaper crafting.  While I was putting together a gift basket for some new parents desperately in need of sleep I had sheep on the brain.  Which is precisely how this DIY diaper sheep was born.

The fastest way to curl your hair - Conair Curl Secret

This week I answered the question does the Conair Curl Secret work and created a DIY hair tutorial about this automatic curling iron as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias #ConairCurl

In just a few days I will be on a plane.  Childless, husband accompanied and off to some very luxurious (and more importantly comped) accommodations in Las Vegas.  It's a trip we make a couple of times a year with varying permutations of friends.  A few weeks back I was looking through photos of trips past and realized one common denominator.  I always have the same hair.  In every single photo.   There are worse possibilities...like mom jeans or wardrobe malfunctions.  However, I just saw long straight dark hair staring back at me time and time again. Boring!

Kindergarten Prep Party with LeapReader

This week I checked out the new LeapReader from LeapFrog.  To facilitate a LeapReader review I received products from LeapFrog to host a LeapReader MommyParty.

This is Kayla's last year before Kindergarten, the true Pre-K year and one thing I have noticed is that kids her age are all over the map as far as where they stand with reading and writing. There are kids just learning to write their names and others who are writing sentences.  There are kids learning to identify individual words and others reading books on their own.

Simple Kitchen Science with Clifford - Preschool Boredom Buster

This week we checked out the Clifford Kitchen Science set from the Young Scientists Club.  I was sent this item to facilitate this post but received no other compensation.

It's Sunday morning.  You're tired.  And if you're like me then you've already used up your fun, creative, stroke-of-genius mom entertainment tricks on Saturday.  Meh.  Here is where I am a big believer in having a box, basket or closet of go-to items that you can pull out and do with your child that requires minimal effort on your part.

DIY Travel Lego Case from a baby wipes case - Wipebox

Not too long ago I shared my DIY Travel Entertainment Board with you and it seemed like a lot of parents were excited about it.  So when I was cleaning out the closet in Kayla's old room/my new office and stumbled upon a few old wipes cases I got inspired and knew I wanted to make a DIY travel Lego case.  Right around that time the folks over at Uber Mom had sent me one of their colorful WipeBox  baby wipe containers and since it had way more kid appeal than the plain old boring ones that came with my original diaper bag I knew I had to use it for this project.

DIY Painted Step2 Wagon Party Favor Station

I am a Step2 Test Drive Blogger.  I created this DIY Painted Step2 Wagon Party Favor Station as part of a sponsored post for Step2.   It's the perfect solution for what to do with an old wagon or how to upcycle a toy wagon.

If you're in a similar stage of life to the one I've been in, bulky plastic items in your living room are just a fact of life.  I too had visions of a home where only painstakingly chosen pieces of discrete kid decor existed.  Then reality hit.  Do you buy the $200 sleek looking wooden baby bouncer that doesn't do a darn thing other than look pretty?  Or do you buy the one that sings, vibrates and has rainforest creature rattles on it for $60?  Let's be honest.  Is this really a question? You buy whatever makes that baby happy and gives you 3 more minutes to have a prayer at shaved legs. Or breakfast.

SeaWorld Gear - Boken the Best Lightweight Diaper Bag + EZ SOX

A couple of weeks ago I discovered Boken and their fabulously packable, lightweight diaper bags via my friend Rachel Florio-Urso.  It's the most bittersweet feeling when you find something that is perfect and would have been SO helpful to you if you'd only known about it sooner.  As a self confessed bag snob I can add my name to the list of moms who trudged around with a Petunia Pickle Bottom that never quite met my needs.

Jillian Warner from Mommy Testers

Jillian Warner, Mommy Testers Blog,

Hi, I'm Jillian Warner!  I'll spare you from having to read about me in the third person because, well you know it's me writing this, right?

My blog, Mommy Testers is about neat finds in the baby and kids world, DIY anything-you-can-think-of that seems easy and fun and of course some things that are just for the grown ups like great tech items, neat travel destinations, beauty and fashion finds.  Basically, it's things I happen to think are pretty cool and you might want to know about.  Oh, and I always try to do it in big, beautiful photos because really, isn't that what half of this whole Internet thing is about?

I am a fashion industry veteran who traded the garment district of NYC for coastal San Diego living.  My family consists of my sports loving husband Craig, our daughter Kayla (born 2009) our son Blake (born 2014) and two rescue dogs, Charger and Stella.

I started Mommy Testers as a way to share what I learned as a parent while navigating the world of kid stuff and it evolved into so much more.  These days I still write all of my content and though I don't frequently talk about it on my blog, I also oversee and work with hundreds of well known, quality bloggers across the country by consulting for marketing companies in the influencer space.

If you're a reader, you'll be happy to know that I am about as picky as they come (just ask my family, they'll confirm) and do my best to only show you products I think are awesome.

If you're a brand or a member of the PR world, then I would love for you to know that:
  • I have a passion for creativity and always come up with something interesting.  Please browse around and see how I work with products.
  • In keeping with the above, I don't participate in any kind of copy/paste mass press release stuff.  Yep, it's all written by me, all the time.
  • I do accept samples to share my thoughts with readers on, but it has to be something I really think my readers want to see and I would personally use and love.
  • I keep giveaways to the bare minimum.  My readers are not particularly motivated by free stuff and neither am I.
I have worked with a ton of brands both big and small. What's most important to me is finding a product or cause that fits my site.

My work has been featured on Buzzfeed, Babble, Huffington Post, the searsStyle Blog, Fox5 San Diego, the Wells Fargo blog and many other places around the web as well as in print.  I hold a few ambassadorships with brands I adore and I've found that these long term relationships tend to be great for all parties involved.  If that's something you're looking for I would love to hear from you and of course I adore coming up with creative ways to work together.

Thanks so much and you can reach me anytime at jillian (at) mommytesters (dot) com
